The Clone Property feature allows you to create a new property using information from an existing property. This is useful when adding several similar properties, as it reduces repetitive data entry.
Before you begin
The Clone option is available only to users whose role includes permission to create properties.
Cloning creates a separate property record. It does not change the original property.
Clone a property
- Open the property you want to use as the source.
- Select the Summary tab.
- Click the blue Clone button beside Archive.
- Review the information in the Clone Property window.
- Enter a unique Address (1).
- Review the optional copy selections and clear any items you do not want to copy.
- Click Clone Property.
When the property is created successfully, Affinity opens the new property’s Summary page.
Property information
The cloning window contains the following fields:

| Address (1) | Left blank. A new value must be entered. |

| County | Copied from the original property. |
| Eircode | Left blank because each property has a unique Eircode. |
| Reference | Left blank, but can be entered before cloning. |
| Finance Code | Copied from the original property. |
| LPT Tax Reference | Left blank, but can be entered before cloning. |
| Local Authority | Copied from the original property. |
You can amend any of the displayed information before creating the new property.
Choose what to copy
The following options are selected by default. Clear a checkbox if you do not want that group of information copied.
Contacts
Copies the property’s:
- Housing Officer
- Service Manager
- Project Leader
- Managing Agent
- Management Company
Association Details
Copies the property’s:
- Acquisition Cost
- Date into Housing Management
- Major Defects Expiry Date
- Minor Defects Expiry Date
- Leased Property setting
- Lease Renewal Date, where applicable
- Energy Certificate Exempt setting
The Acquisition Date is mandatory and is always copied, even when Association Details is not selected.
Care Alerts
Copies all care alerts associated with the original property. Each alert retains its active status and expiry information.
Property Details
Copies the information recorded on the original property’s Property Details tab.
Property photographs are not copied.
The following unique identifiers are also excluded and remain blank on the new property:
- Key Code
- GPRN
- MPRN
- Meter RM and Serial Number
- WPRN
Duplicate property checks
Affinity checks the combination of Address (1) and Town before creating the new property.
If an active property already exists with the same address and town, the clone will not be created. Amend the address details and try again.
Property limits
A property cannot be cloned if your organisation has reached its configured property limit. Additional capacity must be made available before the new property can be created.
