Use a Differential Rent review to request household and income information from a group of tenants and track its return. The information can then be checked as part of the rent assessment process.
Open Tenants > Rent Reviews. This page lists both Differential Rent and CREL reviews. Use Review type to display all reviews or one type.
Create a review
- Select New review > Differential Rent Review.
- In Step 1 — Rent review name, enter a name that staff will recognise, such as “Annual income review 2026”.
- Select Continue to review scope.
- Choose a Housing group and/or Housing officer if you want to narrow the selection.
- Check Tenancy started before. Affinity supplies a default based on your account settings. You can change it or leave it blank to include all otherwise eligible current tenancies.
- Select Preview tenants.
Check the tenants to include
Use the checkboxes to include or exclude individual tenancies. A tenant with more than one tenancy may appear more than once.
- Find a tenant searches the preview.
- Select this page and Clear this page affect the displayed page only.
- Use the page controls to review the rest of the list.
- If you change the scope, select Refresh tenant list before saving.
Eligible entries are current active tenancies. Properties under CAS or CREL are excluded, as are archived properties, and tenants that have been issued with a notice to quit. Your branch access also determines which records you can work with.
Save now or continue
The buttons at the top of Tenants to include have different purposes:
- Save saves the review so you can return to change its name or selection.
- Save and continue asks you to confirm that the tenant list will be locked. Once confirmed, you can prepare income request letters and record returned details.
Saving and continuing does not generate letters, perform assessments or change rent charges.
Return to a saved review
Open Tenants > Rent Reviews and select the review name or Continue setup.
Overlap warnings identify other accessible reviews containing the same tenancy. A tenancy can belong to more than one review, so outstanding returns from a previous year do not prevent a new annual review. Each review tracks its own letters and returns.
After the list is locked, use Open review to manage income requests.
