This field is used when adding a property that your housing association has been managing for some time.
If this is a new property to your housing association then leave the Opening Tenant Balance at 0.
If this is a property that you have been managing for some time and you do not wish to retrospectively add all historical rent receipts then simply add the current rent balance for this property, i.e.
Tenant Balance = Rents Paid - Rents Due
A negative figure indicates that the tenant is behind in their rent payments.
